What data the app stores on your device
Felmark Shift stores the following information locally, in your device’s private app storage:
- Clients you create — names, hourly rates, and any notes you add.
- Shifts you record — start time, end time, the client tied to each shift, breaks, scope-creep tags, and notes.
- Optional Worksite records — saved client work addresses, foreground GPS checks, GPS accuracy, and Worksite confidence metadata when you turn on Shift Worksite for a live shift.
- Optional Shift Capture records — local photo references, tiny local preview references, timestamps, capture codes, and captions when you add a Shift Capture.
- Plans you make — the weekly schedule you sketch on the Plan tab.
- Recovery plans — projected wind-down windows for evening and overnight shifts, plus your sleep preferences.
- App settings — your fallback hourly rate, monthly earnings target, work-language setting, backup prompt state, and similar preferences.
- Saved patterns — reusable weekly templates and scope-creep tag templates you create.
- Local entitlement snapshot— the app’s cached view of whether Professional is active.
This data is created by you and remains on your device unless you choose to sign in and use cloud backup.
Optional Shift account and cloud backup
Signing in is optional. It exists to protect and restore your work, not to unlock the basic time tracker.
If you sign in with Apple or Google:
- Account data. Our authentication provider stores the email address or provider identifier needed to authenticate you, plus an account user ID.
- Auth session. The app stores your account session in the device’s secure storage so you stay signed in.
- Cloud backup. When backup is active, the app uploads a backup snapshot of your Shift data to our cloud backup provider in a record tied to your account user ID.
- Restore review. If the cloud backup and local device data differ, the app asks which copy should win before replacing local data.
Felmark uses this data only for app functionality: account sign-in, backup, restore, and account deletion. We do not use your clients, shifts, rates, plans, notes, Worksite records, or Capture records for advertising or analytics.
Optional Shift Worksite
Shift Worksite is off by default. If you turn it on for a live shift, the app may request foreground location access and save GPS checks while the shift is active. The app uses those checks to compare the shift with the selected client work address and explain GPS confidence.
Shift Worksite does not request background location and does not record a continuous route.
Worksite records stay on your device unless you sign in and enable cloud backup. If backup is active, saved work addresses, Worksite GPS checks, clock-in location fixes, and confidence metadata can be included in your encrypted-in-transit backup snapshot.
Optional Shift Capture
Shift Capture is off by default. If you turn it on for a live shift, the app may request camera access so you can add a photo note to the shift. The original photo stays on your device. Felmark stores metadata such as the local photo reference, timestamp, capture code, optional caption, and a tiny local preview reference.
If a local photo reference becomes unavailable, History may ask for Photos access so you can manually relink the matching photo. The picker is user-initiated. Shift reports and receipts use text metadata, not uploaded photo files. The current build does not upload original Shift Capture photos.
Account deletion
If you are signed in, Settings includes a Delete Account action. When you confirm deletion, the app calls a server endpoint that verifies your account session, deletes your cloud backup record, deletes your account user, and then wipes this device’s local Shift data.
If the server deletion fails, the app keeps local data intact so you can retry.
Professional purchases
Felmark Shift may offer Professional features through in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. A purchase-entitlement provider helps us verify purchase and restore entitlement state across devices.
We may receive purchase status, product identifiers, entitlement status, app user ID, store, country or region, and similar purchase-management metadata. We do not receive your payment card number, bank details, or full App Store / Google Play account credentials.
Optional Felmark Work OS waitlist
You may choose to give us your email to hear about Felmark Work OS, a related web product. This is optional and does not gate Shift features.
- What we collect. Your email address and the date you joined the waitlist.
- Where it goes. The address is sent to our email delivery provider.
- What we do with it. We send product updates, launch announcements, and early access invitations.
- How to remove it. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact hello@tryfelmark.com.
What data the app does NOT collect
- We do not collect contacts, calendar events, microphone data, or background location.
- We do not upload original Shift Capture photos in the current build.
- We do not collect Worksite location unless you explicitly turn on Shift Worksite for a live shift.
- We do not collect advertising IDs, IDFA, AAID, or device identifiers for tracking.
- We do not display advertisements.
- We do not use tracking cookies or web beacons.
- We do not use third-party analytics services such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Segment.
- We do not use third-party crash reporting such as Sentry or Crashlytics in the current build.
Network usage
Core time tracking works locally. Network requests are used only for features that need a service:
- Account sign-in, auth validation, and cloud backup / restore.
- The Felmark account-deletion endpoint used by Delete Account.
- Apple, Google, and purchase-entitlement services for purchase and restore flows.
- An email delivery service if you opt into the Felmark Work OS waitlist.
- Opening legal/support links in your browser.
- Standard operating system and app store services governed by your device OS and store account.
Children’s privacy
The app is rated for general audiences and does not target children under 13. The app should not be used as a primary tool by children without parental supervision.
